The Police in Accra have arrested the Chairman of the People’s National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah together with 12 others for allegedly embarking on an illegal protest in the streets of the capital Saturday.
The detainees also including security analyst, Irbad Ibrahim were part of a group, Ghana-Togo Solidarity movement, that staged a peaceful march Saturday morning in solidarity with the political crisis in Togo.
The demonstrators did not inform Police about their demonstration, hence the Police’s arrests, reports say.
This follows a similar arrest in October this year where 26 Togolese Nationals who converged to demonstrate in the capital were also arrested and arraigned before court.
Police had indicated their action was in clear breach of the Public Order Act following their attempt to stage an unlawful demonstration over the political crisis in their home country without the Police’s approval.
