Assistant Coach of Ghana’s Women’s U-17 national team, Baba Nuhu, has shut the door on any form of complacency when the Black Maidens welcome Gambia in the second leg of their U-17 World Cup qualifier on Saturday.
The Maidens sealed an emphatic 5-1 win in the first leg in Bakau, and will be hoping to complete passage to the next round of qualifying in the second leg at the Cape Coast Stadium.
Nuhu says the team is very focused on finishing off the job on Saturday and will be pushing for a similar scoreline on the day.
“Complacency is out of our dictionary, as we want to win and win convincingly. The girls themselves know what is ahead of us, because many people still regard our first leg win as a fluke.
“So this will be a good time in front of our supporters to show that we deserved to win the first leg by that scoreline. We will go for more goals in the second leg,” he said.
Victory for Ghana will set up a two-legged encounter with Djibouti in February 2018 in the final round of the qualifiers with a place at next year’s World Cup in Uruguay up for grabs
