Maverick New Patriotic Party (NPP) Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer, Kwame Baffoe popularly called Abronye DC has called for the immediate arrest and prosecution of National Democratic Congress (NDC) member and private legal practitioner, Abraham Amaliba.

“I am telling you today Amaliba should be arrested and charged for high treason”, he charged.

According to the outspoken Regional Youth Organizer, Article 3 clause 3 of the 1992 Constitution states that anybody who gangs against it has committed treason impugning therefore that Lawyer Abraham Amaliba stands accused as stated.

The legal practitioner and member of the main opposition NDC, Abraham Amaliba has said Ghana will not be peaceful if the Chair of the Electoral Commission, Mrs Charlotte Osei is removed from office.

According to him, the current government is using the system to harass Mrs Osei, a situation he said does not augur well for the stability of the country.

However, speaking on Nhyira FM in Kumasi, the NPP Brong Ahafo Regional Youth Organizer accused Lawyer Abraham Amaliba of treasonable comments.

Abronye DC said by inference, Lawyer Abraham Amaliba is implying the 1992 Constitution be kicked aside and this suggests he wants to commit treason.

Kwame Baffoe who spoke to host of the show Kofi Asante Ennin counseled members of the NDC to allow due process to be followed in dealing with matters involving the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission and her two deputies.

Chief Justice, Sophia Akuffo, initiated what many say is a possible impeachment process when she empaneled a five-member committee last month to look into the allegations.

The inquisitorial committee, whose members are yet to be made public, is expected to investigate Mrs Osei, together with her two deputies, Georgina Opoku-Amankwa, who is in-charge of Corporate Services, and Amadu Sulley, in charge of Operations.

The EC was thrown into turmoil in July this year after some unnamed staff petitioned President Akufo-Addo to trigger an impeachment process against Charlotte Osei.

Mrs Osei launched her own attack, drawing in the two deputies.

The accusation against Charlotte Osei included funnelling of GH¢3.9 million to partition an office, her receipt of a Toyota Land Cruiser from the Mahama government, expending about $14 million when the Public Procurement Authority had authorised her to use only $7.5 million.
