A total of twelve (12) persons are reported to have died under mysterious circumstances at Agladzaa, a suburb of Teshie in the Greater Accra Region within the spate of one week.

The mysterious deaths is said to have started on Monday December 4, 2017.

Mynewsgh.com has gathered that the unfortunate incident is causing fear and panic among residents in the community in the wake of reported deaths of meningitis in some second cycle institutions in the country.

Ben Foster Egbedzi who lost two of his close relations, disclosed on Accra-based Oman FM that the deceased persons died after they complained of severe headache and feverishness and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

He explained that the deceased persons are from different homes in the community.

According to him, the bodies of the deceased have since been deposited at the mortuary in different hospitals including LA Polyclinic.

It is unclear whether the deceased persons died of meningitis or H1N1 otherwise known as swine flu which has already claimed the lives of some students in the Northern and Ashanti Regions.

The Member of Parliament for Ledzokuku Hon. Dr Okoe Boye whose jurisdiction the incident happened is yet to speak to the issue.

But health authorities at the LA Polyclinic who confirmed some deaths to mynewsgh.com, said they are unable to tell if the deceased persons died of meningitis or other ailments but indicated that surveillance have been stepped up to curtail any outbreak if it turns out to be any.
