AshantiGold WinAshantigold SC have released 14 players

Ashantigold SC have released 14 players from the roster ahead of the 2017/2018 Ghana Premier League season.

Former Berekum Chelsea and one time GHPL top scorer Kofi Owusu has been let go, bringing to an end a miserable last 12 months with the Miners. Midfielder Conney Idan and defender Richard Ocran, who, like Kofi Owusu, only joined last season, have also been released.

Experienced campaigners like club captain Eric Opoku, Hudu Yakubu, Aaron Yamoah, Nuhu Seidu and Emmanuel Osei Baffour have also left. Osei Baffour has already joined newly promoted GHPL side Karela United, bringing his long term association with Ashgold to an end.

Other youngsters who have been deemed not good enough for the first team have also been let go. The Afoakwa twins, Bright Donkor, Richard Gyamfi, Samuel Yeboah Sarkodie and Seth Afful have all been released according to footy-ghana.com.

Ashgold enjoyed a torrid season last year and only survived relegation on the last match day after winning the title in 2015.
