Ncce ElectThe NCCE has initiated a nationwide campaign on tax compliance

The National Commission for Civic Education(NCCE) in the Dormaa East District of the Brong-Ahafo Region on Thursday embarked on a sensitisation and awareness creation programme for churches, dressmakers and hairdressers on tax compliance in the area.

The exercise formed part of a nationwide campaign on tax compliance on the theme, “Our Taxes – Our Future” and intends to among others things persuade and educate the citizenry on the need to honour their tax obligations.

The team visited all information centres and over 40 churches in Wamfie, Wamanafo, Kyeremasu, Akontanim, Asuotiano and Dormaa Akwamu in the District.

Mr Emmanuel Hinneh, the District Director of NCCE, appealed to members of the public, including traditional rulers to honour their tax obligations promptly.

Mr Hinneh said the government depended heavily on taxes to execute its development agenda such as the provision of roads, good drinking water, electricity, hospitals and the funding of the free Senior High School programme.

He said chapter six (6), Article 41 (j) of the 1992 Constitution enjoins citizens as a civic duty to declare their income honestly to the lawful and appropriate agencies of the state and to satisfy all tax obligations.
