A combined team of military and police personnel who were reported to have come from the Office of the Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, have attacked some senior public servants at state bungalows behind the headquarters of the Electoral Commission (EC) and evicted them from their rooms.
The sad spectacle, which occurred on Saturday, December 2, 2017 and was repeated on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 Today gathered, has created uneasy calm in the area, with the affected public officials being rendered homeless.
One of the occupants, Mr Abdulai Amin, who is the Head of Advances at the Controller and Accountant General Department, lost an amount of GH¢65,000 during the operation.
Speaking to Today, Mr Amin disclosed that he was going to use the money for a special project.
He has since reported the issue to the Adabraka Police Station who are investigating the matter.
The officers who were led by one Araba, and Inspector Klutse in a black Presidential V8 vehicle with registration number: VR-1061-16 claimed they were acting under the directives of one Mr Ishaq, ADC to the Vice President, and one Grace, also in the Office of the Vice President.
This is the third time the officers have ransacked the area, and terrorised the occupants by throwing away their belongings from a second floor of the storey- building.
According to the affected residents, the security agents told them in the face that the storey building was supposed to be occupied by the security detail of the vice president.
Today’s sorties into the matter revealed that all the operations were being led by this lady called Araba, and taking instructions from one Grace.
Following the activities of these two ladies, some of the residents lodged a complaint with the Deputy Minister of Works and Housing, Madam Freda Prempeh. Unfortunately, the affected occupants told the paper that they have since not heard anything from the deputy minister for works and housing.
Today also established that the affected residents, who are mostly senior public and civil servants qualified and entitled to stay in government’s flats, have their official allocation letters of occupancy and for which a monthly payment was effected through their salaries.
Meanwhile, checks by Today from the Director of Communication at the Office of the Vice President, Mr Frank Agyei-Twum, revealed that the said Inspector Klutse was not known to the security detail of the Office of the Vice President.
Our investigations also revealed that the said Araba has constantly been terrorising officials occupying government bungalows in the name of the vice president and chief of staff with the backing of the security detail at the Flagstaff House.
