Former Dreams FC coach, Charles Kwabla Akunnor, has confirmed his return to the club to assist in their 2017/2018 Premier League campaign.
Akunnor was in charge of the Dawu-based club prior to their demotion to Division One and helped them to win seven games and draw once during their campaign in the second tier before his departure to Ashantigold Sporting Club.
Last week, the Executive Director of Dreams FC, Mr Kurt Okraku told the media that the former Ghana international was preparing feverishly in Europe ahead of his return to the club to enable them to present a strong technical team for next season.
Confirming the story to the Graphic Sports yesterday, Coach Akonnor said: “It is true that I am joining Dreams FC again but in a different capacity and not as a coach.”
He continued: “At Dreams we are one big family so I will go back but I will be working from the background because I still have a contract with Ashantigold and I cherish that family too so I will continue to be with them till my contract ends.”
Touching on his three-week trip abroad, Akonnor, who holds a European Licence B and CAF Licence A, explained that the trip was meant for knowledge-sharing and capacity-building to help him prepare adequately for the top flight next season.
“I went to my former club Wolfsburg in Germany and I also went to Tottenham and Glasgow Celtic for a couple of training programmes to help me in my career,” he revealed.
