Newly promoted premier league side, Dreams FC say they are excited about the prospect of playing in the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) G8 off season tournament next year.

According to Mr. Kurt Okraku, the Executive Chairman of Dreams FC, the club can’t wait to take advantage of the opportunities the tournament will present to the team and players alike.

In an interview with the GNA Sports on Wednesday, Mr Okraku said they would treat the tournament with all the seriousness it deserves.

“For us at Dreams FC, we are excited about competing in the G8. We are looking forward to being very competitive. We are excited because it gives us an amazing platform to show our quality and the talent that we have.

Our players have been looking forward to competitions like this, that will be viewed across the country and beyond live on TV. So we are looking forward to showing our quality,” Mr. Okraku said.

He however charged the GHALCA executives to be innovative and introduce more exciting programmes into the competition.

“We looking forward to a lot more ideas being introduced into the competition by the GHALCA leadership and I am sure that all ideas will be embraced by the eight clubs so that we exhibit very good football for Ghanaian.”

The G8 is a novelty competition by the GHALCA to expand the annual off season top four tournament to include the three newly promoted clubs from Division One as well as the winner of the MTN FA Cup competition.

Teams that will play in the competition next year are Aduana Stars, West Africa Football Academy (WAFA), Hearts of Oak, Ebusua Dwarfs (top four teams), Asante Kotoko (MTN FA Cup champion), Dreams FC, Karela United and Techiman Eleven Wonderers (promoted clubs).

In two groups of four teams each, the Northern zone (Group A) include premier league champions Aduana Stars, Asante Kotoko, Dreams FC and Eleven Wonderers who will play at the Kumasi Baba Yara Sports Stadium. The Southern zone (Group B) also has WAFA, Hearts Of Oak, Ebusua Dwarfs and Karela United, who will use the Cape Coast Stadium.

The tournament will begin on Wednesday January 6 to Friday January 22, and it would precede the start of the 2017/2018 league season.
