JOSEPH YAMIN INSULTSFormer Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Joseph Yamin

Former Deputy Minister for Youth and Sports, Joseph Yamin, has stated that Ghana’s place in the 2022 World Cup is very assured when his party, the National Democratic Congress, comes to power in the 2020 general elections.

Ghana missed out on a fourth successful World Cup appearance in Russia next year after finishing a disappointing 3rd in their qualifying group.

And Yamin, who was Deputy Sports Minister when Ghana’s participation at the 2014 World Cup was rocked by a bonus row, believes the Black Stars will return to the global showpiece when his party returns to power.

“Nana Addo and the NPP will lose the election. John Mahama and the NDC will win the 2020 election and I can assure every Ghanaian that when we come back to power, we will do everything possible to qualify Ghana for the world cup,” he said on Asempa FM in an interview on Thursday.

“During the 8 years of the NDC, Ghana qualified for both of the World Cup tournaments (2010 and 2014) within that period,” he concluded.

The 2022 World Cup will be played in Qatar.
