Ghana midfielder David Accam underwent bilateral sports hernia surgery on Tuesday, his club Chicago Fire have confirmed.
According to Fire, the procedure was performed without complication by Dr. William Hutchinson at the Pacific Coast Hernia Center in California.
The Right to Dream Academy product appeared in 30 matches and played 2,177 minutes for the Men In Red this season, both career highs for his time in Major League Soccer.
Accam additionally set Major League Soccer career highs with 14 goals to his name and a team-leading eight assists in 2017.
He is expected to be cleared for the start Chicago Fire’s of training camp in January.
