In order to protect the public purse and also to ensure sanity in most of Ghana’s public sectors, the government is gradually introducing the paperless system in almost all its sectors.
Starting from the Tema ports, through to the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), which has now moved from the paper payment system to the E-billing system, the Driver Vehicle and Licensing Authority (DVLA), has also gone paperless.
In an exclusive interview with Leticia Ohene-Asiedu on Business Digest, the Director, Driver Training, Testing and Licensing of the DVLA, Mr. Cheyuo Wienaa Musah said the new smart card driving license will make no room for ‘goro’ boys.
He said due to the distinct features of the card and the high technology used in producing the cards, ‘goro’ boys can only assist the public in knowing the process but cannot determine the final outcome of the process.
The Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia on Tuesday November 7, 2017 launched the new smart card driving license at the DVLA office in Accra.
