Nyantakyi AfriyieParliament is worried about the disunity between the GFA boss and his vice

Ghana’s Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports is set to summon the Ghana Football Association President Kwesi Nyantakyi and his vice George Afriyie over the recent tension between the two.

According to a member of the legislative committee on Sports, Kobby Woyome, Parliament is concerned about the bad blood between the two top guns of the Federation and are making attempts to resolve it.

Reports have gained currency in the local media over the frosty relationship between the two top officials of the Ghana FA.

The situation, however, hit an all-time low earlier this month when Afriyie allegedly launched a scathing attack on the CAF 1st vice president via a damaging text message.

In the alleged text message which was leaked to the media, Afriyie is believed to have labelled his boss as being “Greedy selfish and very wicked”.

Following the receipt of the message, Nyantakyi is reported to have announced his decision to sack Afriyie from his position as the GFA vice president.

This has necessitated the invitation by the Parliamentary Select Committee to resolve the impasse.

In an interview with State-owned Uniiq FM, Kobby Woyome said the committee had petitioned the chairman to look into the matter and summon the two.

“I haven’t been too happy seeing the problem between the president and the vice president of the FA”, Hon Kwabena Mensah Woyome told Uniiq FM “Due to this, the committee sat and agreed that look there is the need for us to invite the two gentlemen, having known them closely and worked with the,m so closely”,

“We don’t think there should be any degeneration of relationship between the two and we want to look at the situation where the two fight, we believe even taking good decisions that will impact positively on the running of the At their first public appearance following the widely reported clash of the two, Afriyie was left red-faced as Nyantakyi snubbed him during launch of the WAFU tournament in Accra.
