Women in Entrepreneurship in Ghana are calling on government to pass the Affirmative Action Bill to enhance their rights in Ghana.

According to them, the passage of the bill will grant women bigger platforms and encourage gender equality.

“It will be best if government will open up its institutions to take more women onboard to give them experience so that when they go out, they can fit better into the job market in other private institutions,” the Acting Executive Director of Network of Women in Growth (NEWIG), Ghana Mawulawoe Anato-Dumelo told Citi Business News in an interview.

The Center for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) earlier also pushed for government to as a matter of urgency pass the Affirmative Action Bill.

Mrs. Mawulawoe Anato-Dumelo further urged government to do well to speed the passing of the bill to enhance gender parity.

“We want government to pass the Affirmative Action Bill into law because that will also enhance the right of women in their working areas because we don’t have any law which actually empowers women apart from the domestic violence bill. We want them to pass it to give women equality in every area.” she reiterated.

Mrs Mawulawoe Anato-Dumelo spoke to Citi Business News on the sidelines of the second graduation of NEWIG young women in professional driving and Entrepreneurship in Accra.
