The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Peoples National Convention (PNC) will be meeting to decide the future of its 2016 flagbearer, Dr. Edward Mahama.

According to the party, its leader accepted his new position as an Ambassador-at-large under the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) administration without recourse to the party.

PNC’s National Chairman, Bernard Mornah revealed this on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday.

Dr. Edward Mahama’s appointment has shaken the foundations of the PNC with many national executives expressing shock at the news.

National Chairman and General Secretary, Atik Mohammed are calling for his immediate resignation for accepting an appointment without the needed consultation.

But Dr. Edward Mahama maintained that, he does not need the permission of the PNC to serve his country.

However, Bernard Mornah could not fathom why Dr. Mahama could commit such a blunder when in fact people were sacked under his tenure for accepting position in other political parties.

“Over the years we have sacked people for accepting appointment under Dr. Edward Mahama so what he changed” he quizzed.

The PNC Chairman wondered why the party’s leader rejected a more juicy appointments under the erstwhile Rawlings and Kufuor regimes but decided to accept this from Akufo-Addo.

He rejected a vice presidential position from Kufuor and another from Rawlings. Maybe he did not like Rawlings’ face and Kufuor eyes” he scoffed.

The PNC Chairman bemoaned how the PNC is now depleted because over the years, experienced members of the party have been poached by both the NDC, NPP.

Bernard Mornah hinted Dr. Edward Mahama might be sacked if his explanation is not accepted by NEC.
