Photos: Philanthropist quenches Akyem thirst

The intervention of an indigene of Akyem Abuakwa North Constituency of the Eastern Region was timely relief for hundreds of residents who struggle to access clean water.

Mr. Eugene Osei Agyeman who lives in Accra, mobilised support from some colleagues in the nation’s capital to reconstruct  a borehole facility that had been dysfunctional for years.

Water in Akyem area is a source of a common struggle following years of environmental degradation. 

Not to be unexpected, community interest in the borehole was high on the day of commissioning.

Hundreds of residents gathered at at Akyem Tontro near Akyem Abuakwa at a short ceremony to hand over the repaired borehole to the community.

Mr. Osei Agyemang and his friends also donated food items as well as used clothing for the widows in the area.

A special football gala was organised among six teams from the constituency as part of the ceremony. He also donated a set of football jersey, trophies for the winning team as well as first and second runner-ups.
