Communications Director of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) has parried criticisms of the government by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) predicting that Ghana will experience the best governance under President Akufo-Addo.

Nana Akomea was reacting to former Roads Minister, Alhaji Inusah Fuseini’s claim that Ghanaians were already wishing for a change in government because they are disillusioned barely four months into the administration’s tenure.

Speaking on Joy FM/Multi TV’s Newsfile news analysis programme on Saturday, Alhaji Fuseini said due to lack of policy direction and indecisiveness by the current administration, Ghanaians have been looking forward to the return of the NDC to power in 2020.

However, Nana Akomea, who was also a panelist on the show, thinks Alhaji Fuseini and the NDC’s claim is a joke.

“Ghana is going to see a government never seen before in this Fourth Republic and clearly the signs are there for all to see,” Nana Akomea said.

The opposition NDC is confident of returning to power in 2020 because Ghanaians are disappointed in the New Patriotic Party government.

Speaking at a news conference in Accra on Wednesday 12 April, the chairman of the party, Kofi Portuphy, said the NDC would reorganise to wrest power from the NPP in the 2020 polls.

Nana Akomea on Newsfile advised the NDC against complacency, urging the party to deal with its current leadership problems instead of hoping for a return to power.

“The President [Akufo-Addo] has shown a certain decisiveness that we haven’t seen in the Fourth Republic in dealing with the critical issues that affect us as a nation; that all of us have cried about but we are not able to do because of political indecisiveness,” he said.

The President, Nana Akomea reminds the NDC, has shown that political leadership is going to be taken to a new level.
