A $150,000 modern nursery school to serve the children at Anwomaso in the Ashanti Region has been inaugurated.

It was constructed by the Global Servants, a United States (US)-based non-governmental organisation for the Trinity Foundation School in that community.

Katie Franklin Education Centre

The facility, called the Katie Franklin Education Centre, was named after the mother of a pastor of the Free Chapel in Georgia, USA, Pastor Jackson Franklin.

Pastor Franklin has partnered philanthropic organisations across the globe and continues to support many deprived bodies, especially in Africa, as part of his “divine calling”.

The facility

The school block, built with burnt bricks, has a modern library, science laboratory and a unique playing ground for children’s relaxation.

It also has a toilet facility and a water reservoir to ensure an all-year-round supply of potable water.

Inaugurating the facility, the Africa Director for Global Servants, Mr Travis Rutland, commended the contractors for completing the work within the stipulated time.

He expressed satisfaction with the work done and charged the school’s authority to put the facility to good use and for the purpose of serving children.

Budget for Ghana

Mr Rutland announced that Global Servants  had a yearly budget for Ghana, as part of its commitment to help the country, which was used to improve education, provide boreholes and build clinics and toilet facilities for deprived communities.

The Founder of the Trinity Foundation School, Rev. Samuel Odarno, was grateful to Global Servants and its partner donors for the generous support of the school, which had transformed the school into a modern institution.

He said the school was fortunate to get a modern block for free, but charged parents to honour their part of the obligation by paying their children’s school fees to enable the management of the school to maintain the teachers in the school.

Make time for children

The Chairman of the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of the school, Mr Sebastian Oppong Anane, urged parents to make time for their children and support them to grow to be responsible adults.

He expressed concern that most parents focused more on acquiring wealth to the detriment of their wards’ proper upbringing, calling on teachers to impart knowledge, skills and good values to the pupils.

Call for support

The Chief of Anwomaso, Nana Osei Boa II, hailed Global Servants for its unflinching support towards the realisation of quality education in the area.

He called on other philanthropists to emulate the example of the organisation to help build a solid foundation for the future leaders.

Nana Boa II used the opportunity to call on all natives of  Anwomaso, who held positions of trust globally, to come home and contribute their quota to the development of the town.
