The Fomena District Police Command has launched investigations into circumstances under which a 42-year-old woman was shot dead at Sakitey, near Nsokete in the Adansi North District of the Ashanti Region.

Sara Yohuno, a farmer, was allegedly shot at close range by her husband, Robert Okai Darko, 35, in their bedroom at about 7:45 pm on April 28, 2017.

She was found in a pool of blood by neighbours after the suspect fled into the bush few minutes after he allegedly committed the dastardly act.

Fomena District Police Commander, Supt Yaw Obeng Asubonteng, who briefed DAILY GUIDE, said that the victim was shot in the chest with a shot gun.

She died instantly at the scene and the body was later deposited at the Peaceland mortuary at Adiembra, near Fomena, the district’s capital, the police commander added.

He further disclosed Robert Okai Darko, who fled the village, was later apprehended by vigilante group from the village.

Supt. Asubonteng said the suspect was later handed over to the police in an unconscious state and was later admitted at the Benito Hospital at Fomena to receive treatment.
