Togbe Adela Titriku Anaze XII

Some Chiefs in the Dorfor Traditional Area in the North Tongu District of the Volta Region are up in arms with their Acting Paramount Chief, Togbe Adela Titriku Anaze XII over the installation of a substantive Paramount Chief.

The Chiefs expressed their displeasure over what they described as poor leadership qualities by their Paramount Chief and his lackadaisical attitude towards the installation of a new Paramount Chief.

Under the leadership of the Stool Father of the Traditional Area, Togbe Godson Kwaku Ameka, some chiefs and elders of the area have revoked their allegiance to the Acting Paramount Chief. They also directed that the Chief steps down immediately to give way for the installation of a substantive Paramount Chief.

They gave him a 14-day ultimatum to handover all the paramount stool properties, documents and records under his watch until a substantive paramount chief is selected and enstooled.

According to the elders of the area, Togbe Anaze XII is allegedly using a divide and rule tactics to frustrate the selection and installation of a new Paramount Chief in order to remain at post.

Togbe Amekah who spoke in a press conference recently indicated that Togbe Anaze XII has been acting as the Paramount Chief for the past eleven years following the demise of the then Paramount Chief, Togbe Ribitim Komlaga II. It happened so because the stool father who was to act by then was too old to act.

He said the elders were demanding Togbe Anaze XII to step down because he is the divisional chief of Podoe Dorfor and his duties as a divisional chief cannot be combined with the paramountcy duties as it amounts to conflict of interest.

Togbe Amekah has therefore advised members of the public not to deal with Togbe Anaze XII on matters concerning the Dorfor State as he no longer has the powers to represent the area.

When DAILY GUIDE contacted Togbe Anaze XII, he described the allegations as “mischievous, baseless and untenable”. He said the allegations were borne out of hatred for him and his resistance against the imposition of an unqualified candidate for the Paramount stool.

He said the candidate that the Stool Father and other elders were pushing forward is not a member of the Amanflu Clan where Paramount Chiefs are chosen hence could not be the ideal Dorfor Paramount Chief.
