The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has donated 50 tons of dates to the people of Ghana towards strengthening the cordial relations between the two countries.

Mr. Abdulaziz Alnasser, the Charge d’Affairs of the Saudi Embassy presented the fruits on behalf of the Kingdom at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs last Tuesday.

“I am honoured to present fifty tons of dates as gift from the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to the government of the friendly Republic of Ghana” he said during the presentation.

For the past six years the Kingdom has been consistent with the presentation of the fruits in the same quantity.

The diplomat was joined by colleagues from the King Salman Humanitarian and Relief Centre who arrived from the Royal Kingdom for the occasion.

Foreign Affairs Minister, Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey said since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1960, both have shared common desire to forge friendship and cooperation.

She said the fruits which have been transferred to the NADMO for custody would be distributed to appropriate beneficiaries as the Ramadan approaches.
