Chief Executive Officer of McDan Group, Dr Daniel McKorley has promised fireworks in this year’s McDan Open West Africa Championship scheduled from April 24 to 19.
He has revealed in an exclusive interview that lovers of the sport will have so much to cheer about in the third edition slated for the refurbished Accra Stadium.
The Mc Dan chief’s joy has always been to see young tennis talents reach their full potential and also make good financial gains; particularly after doubling the prize money to $10,000.
“Tennis lovers should expect a great tournament; but my joy would be completed should a Ghanaian win the ultimate prize money. They did so well in last year’s edition but failed to grab the cash.”
“Reports from the Courts indicates that the players have taken their training a notch higher, which I am excited about, we want to see tennis grow again in this country, that is why we have adopted the Accra Stadium Tennis Court, renovated it to the tune of ¢50,000,” said Dr Mc Korley.
About six countries from the sub-region are expected to participate in this year’s tourney which has received support from Rush Energy Drink, GNPC, AFWEST, COCOBOD, UMB, and Ghana Tennis Federation.
