AUDIO: GFA Planned To Sack Kwesi Appiah After 2013 AFCON

Former Black Stars head coach’s dismissal has been a major issue for discussion as many have described the way he was sacked as disrespectful on the party of the GFA.

Kwasi Appiah was sacked last Friday hours after leading the Stars to beat the Hawks of Togo in a Nations Cup qualifier.

Although many have described his dismissal as shocking, a seasoned sports journalist has exposed that attempts by the FA to relieve the former Black Stars captain from his post started right after 2013 Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

According to Christopher Opoku, the FA showed no sign of “confidence” in Kwasi Appiah when he was handed the Stars job because they wanted to appease the fans who were yelling for a local coach to lead the four-time Africa champions.

Speaking on Peace FM’s flagship show Kokrokoo, he said that, “The GFA wanted to sack him [Kwasi Appiah] after the 2013 AFCON but they were just considering him”
