Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa State has been declared unqualified to vie for the office of president of Nigeria in 2015.
The Ijaw national leader, Chief Edwin Clark, who stated this on Thursday, also warned the governor to refrain from making further uncomplimentary remarks against President Goodluck Jonathan, describing him as a “corrupt public officer”.
The elder statesman, who made this known at his Kiagbodo country home, Burutu council area of Delta State, also blamed Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for the crisis of interest between him and Jonathan, describing the Nigeria Governors Forum chairman as a recalcitrant fellow.
He, however, hinted that reconciliation between the duo was possible, saying works were on to readmit Amaechi back into the “fold”, saying “he is one of us”.
Clark, who seemed to have called a truce with Lamido over a year ago after the two of them engaged in a public war of words, said the Jigawa governor’s presidential ambition is unrealistic as he is not the fit and proper person to oversee the affairs of the nation.
According to the former federal commissioner: “Lamido should not speak, if he has not been enjoying immunity, he should have been arrested for meddling with the funds of Jigawa State with his children. His children stole Jigawa’s money, billions of naira, he’s a signatory to some of those accounts, but because he’s enjoying immunity, nobody has spoken. He’s not the fit and proper person to govern Nigeria.
“Apart from the fact that Jonathan has another four years, Lamido is not qualified to be president of Nigeria. One, educationally, he is not qualified. Nigeria is made up of very qualified people, let him tell me what his qualifications are. Aminu Kano was the one who brought him up, tell me what his qualifications are to take over from someone who has a PhD, who has been a lecturer, who has been a governor, who has been a deputy governor. The arrogance must stop”, he said.
Reiterating his earlier comments on the waiver granted former chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Malam Nuhu Ribadu, Chief Clark said the former All Progressives Congress chieftain is not an asset, but a liability to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Adamawa State.
“Ribadu is not a stable man and I have said it openly at a press conference and an open letter to the national chairman that Ribadu is a political liability, I have said that Ribadu cannot win any election”, he maintained
