Bawku gun battle subsides as calm returns

Calm has returned to Bawku Saturday morning after a chaotic Friday night of intense gun battle in the municipality.

Joy News received several SOS messages from residents claiming the exchange of fire had raged for more than an hour amid heavy downpour.

It is unclear those who were engaged in the fighting.

Bawku Divisional Police Commander Superintendent Tefutor Kaletsi was himself caught in the fire when Joy News reached him by telephone.

He offered to speak later when calm has been restored.

Saturday morning he told Joy News’ Joseph Opoku Gakpo calm has returned and everybody is going about their normal duties.

He said they have begun investigations into the matter.

No arrests have yet been made and there is no casualty.
