One of Ghana’s award-winning hiplife artistes, Okyeame Kwame, aka Rap Doctor, has urged Ghanaian musicians to consider their music as a product and their personality as a brand.

Throughout a career spanning 16 years in the music industry, Rap Doctor is coming up with a whole new phase of musical album titled ‘African Connection’ which features the likes of HHP from South Africa, NAVIO from Uganda, JAGUAR from Kenya and J. Martins from Nigeria.

Speaking on Kapital Radio over the weekend, he disclosed that ‘just as lots of brands worldwide have products that people could easily associate with, it is necessary for Ghanaian musicians to consider themselves as brands and their works as products to enable them to meet the challenges ahead of them.’

Okyeame Kwame, who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of One Mic Entertainment, advised musicians to be focused and desist from acts that seek to undermine their progress.

The Rap Doctor also highlighted that musicians have a lot to do for the society and in order to do that, they need to develop their skills to enable them to maintain their presence on the music scene, adding, ‘In Ghana today, I believe that it is only musicians that can do what the politicians can’t do with Africa, that is bringing them together.’

He also disclosed that demos have been sent to some of the artistes who featured on the album and ‘their response have been encouraging.’
