Wontumi Begins House To House Campaign

In line with his promise to secure 80 percent of votes for the opposition New Patriotic Party when elected as chairman, the Ashanti Regional chairman of the NPP, Mr. Bernard Antwi Boasiako, aka Wontumi, has commenced a “house to house” to reach out to both potential and existing voters.

Chairman Wontumi, with support from other regional executives, have since the past two weeks been embarking on a walkabout in some constituencies in the Garden City, moving from house to house and store to store, to express their gratitude and remind the people about the prospects of the NPP for the 2016 elections.

The regional executives have so far visited Suame and the Subin constituencies and are expected to continue the exercise until they visit all the 47 constituencies in the region. Briefing The Chronicle on the exercise, the NPP Regional Chairman said the campaign was specifically planned to target residents at their doorsteps, with visits to their homes and stores.
He said so far the campaign had been successful, stressing that the people had given them maximum support and motivation to continue.

Chairman Wontumi said the exercise was part of his campaign promises to engage in active interactions with the people in order to leave indelible impressions in the minds of the voters about the party. He said he wanted to put an end to an era where politicians and political parties only interact with voters during election years or periods leading to elections, adding that the early house to house visits will help lessen the workload during the elections.

“We need to continue to show the people that we are with them; more especially when the NDC government has made things difficult for them, we want to show solidarity to them and tell them that the NPP would continue to be with them until the better days come,” he emphasized. Chairman Wontumi said he was encouraged by the response from the people, stressing that despite their difficulties and busy schedules, they find time to respond to our greetings and acknowledge our presence.

The NPP Regional Chairman, who pledged to secure 80% of the total votes to help catapult the opposition party to victory during the campaign for the chairmanship, stated that he would not renege on his promise and would deliver to the satisfaction of the party. “I have not forgotten the task ahead of me, I know it will be difficult but we will sail through, we have been motivated by the responses we have received from the people,” he noted.
