
Former President of Brazil, Mr. Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, has pledged to support Ghana’s efforts to implement policies and build infrastructure that guarantees sustainable development.

Mr. Lula renewed this pledge to President John Dramani Mahama during bilateral talks between in Abuja, Nigeria, on Thursday, on the margins of the World Economic Forum for Africa.

President Mahama and the former Brazilian President also discussed some concrete steps that could be taken to boost agriculture and food self-sufficiency in Ghana, with lessons from successes achieved in agriculture in Brazil during the administration of Mr. Lula.

They also shared ideas about how to meet the infrastructure needs of Ghana and Africa as a whole.

Finally, the two leaders shared light-hearted and hopeful comments about the prospects of their respective countries in the FIFA World Cup, which start in Brazil next month.
