Ghana’s ‘Robert Mogabe’ Last Hour Comedy Interesting!

He told his party supporters and by extension Ghanaians that he was going to announce his political future on the March 20, and so it came to pass amidst drumming and dancing at his residence.

When I heard him, I asked myself what is it that he was going to say that we do not already know. I wrote some time ago that nobody needs a soothsayer to tell him or her that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, twice defeated Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), will be making another attempt at the Presidency.

I mention this, because if somebody had told me that after 2012 elections, the old man the Robert “Mugabe of Ghanaian politics” will stake another claim at the Presidency, I will bet my life on it, but knowing politicians, you can never tell their next move.

The General Secretary of the NPP, Kwawdo Owusu Afriyie alias ‘Sir John’, had already told us that even if the old man is in a wheel chair, he will still lead the party, so the party is prepare to present him for as long as he can talk.

It is pretty much obvious that no matter the outcome of the 2016 elections, Nana Addo will contest again in 2020. I think that until Nana becomes President, he will not stop contesting. I admire him for that, never give up until the bones are rotten.

Faith seem to be smiling at him, as it seems President, John Dramani Mahama and his team do not have a full grips on the pulse of the nation and finding lasting solutions to the numerous problems confronting us has become a mirage that we are chasing.

The power crisis that has become a perennial problem has become an albatross around the President’s neck. Every leader since 1992, have had to deal with the power crisis, but President John Dramani Mahama seem to be the hardest hit, as the problem is refusing to go away, despite the effort he had made to solve the problem.

God forbid, if things stand the way they are we will have for the first time in our history a 72- years old man as President.
Change is something you can’t fight, we saw it with the Arab Spring, although some of the countries could be regretting by now. When the people want it, there is nothing you do or say that will make them want otherwise.

What happened with the Arab Spring could have been averted, but they simply wanted change for either bad or good and toady they cannot turn back the clock of time, what is done is done.

I was telling some of my colleagues the other day that if somebody had told me 20, 15 or 10 years ago that today, we will have a Blackman as President of the most powerful nation on earth, I will tell them to check into a rehab., all apologies to Paul Afoko, with the mention of rehab.

Good luck Sir, in your bid to unseat Jake Obetsebi Lamptey as the Chairman of NPP. Send someone to collect my contribution to your campaign, I want Jake out of that office, he is a bad example of politicians in this country.

Today, Barack Husein Obama, a son of an African immigrant from Kenya, is now the President of the United State of America (USA). Colour did not matter to them, when they went to the polls in 2008 to cast their ballot; they simply wanted change from the mismanagement of George Walker Bush and the uninspiring thought of John Mccain.

We do not want a repeat of that in 2016 in Ghana, so President Mahama, please sit up, the people are getting despondent and disoriented.
Ghanaians expect more from you; the overwhelming support that you received in 2012 is dwindling. We do not want voter apathy to affect the party in 2016.

One cannot eat crab in silence, so all that Nana Akufo-Addo has done since he lost the 2012 elections was preparing for this day. His decision to go to the Supreme Court (SC) to challenge the results of the 2012 elections and prayed the court to overturn the result in his favour, was all a charade to still remain relevant in the minds of his party faithful.

His decision to go to the United Kingdom (UK) to seek the face of God and the subsequent visits that members of his party paid to his residence, which appeared in the newspapers and on the web on daily basis, set the agenda for his return.

If I will give the old man one thing, I think he speaks like a leader. His rendition of the queens language always leaves me marveled. Although I disagree with him politically, I will listen to him any day and anytime. You always take something home with you, when the man speaks. He is a master of the Queen’s language.

Good luck old man. I hope this will not be much ado about nothing.
