Kotoko Probes Misappropriation Of Gate Proceeds

The management of Asante Kotoko has launched an enquiry into circumstances under which some key members of the supporters wing were said to have allegedly misappropriated gate proceeds last Sunday.

Information available to GNA Sports indicates that the incident occurred when Kotoko hosted Liberia’s BYC in a CAF Champions League preliminary match at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi, on Sunday.
The culprits were said to have under-declared proceeds realized from the entry points they were assigned.

Samuel Opoku-Nti, acting General Manager of the club, told the GNA Sports that management was determined to get to the bottom of the issue.
The match, which ended 2-1 in favour of Kotoko witnessed a heavy attendance, with the club realizing close to about 76, 000 cedis as proceeds after deductions.

Opoku-Nti indicated that the probe was borne out of suspicions by management as the high attendance did not reflect the proceeds realized.
He described the development as unfortunate, particularly at a time when the club was in dire need of funds to enhance its activities.

He said appropriate measures would be taken against those found guilty.
