Gyans Are “Hiding Something”—Lawyer

A Private Legal Practitioner, Maurice Ampaw has said the press conference addressed by the Gyan brothers to shield themselves from any blame in the disappearance of Hiplife artiste, Castro and Janet Bandu on July 6 does not wash.

The Gyans say the attempt to link them to the disappearance of their friend is unfair and that the events leading to the disappearance of Castro show clearly that they are not culpable.

“We take the opportunity and state without the slightest doubt in our minds that we are not blamable for the disappearance of Castro and Janet Bandu. We had no hand in that occurrence. We have no moral or legal culpability whatsoever.”

But Maurice Ampaw, who claimed to have some information relating to the disappearance of Castro and Janet Bandu told Citi News, he is in contact with the police to unravel the mystery behind the pair’s disappearance.

He said the press conference failed to give full details of the actual events that unfolded during the trip.

“What they are giving out there, there are others that can also give that same information. For example, when they went to Ada, they left details as to the number of people who went to the trip and how they were grouped, who slept with who in the room, what room did they sleep, whose holding Castro’s phone as of now, there are so many questions…”

He emphasized the need for the statement issued by the family to be subjected to serious interrogation.

“…the people who have the right to do that interrogation is the Police… I am going to add my information that I have and forward it to the Police…I don’t have any problem with the people [Gyans]. The only problem I have with them is the attack on him [Castro]”

Theophilus Tagoe alias Castro and his lady friend Janet Bandu disappeared while holidaying at Ada in the Greater Accra Region in July this year with Black Stars’ captain, Asamoah Gyan and a few of his friends.

The incident occurred when the two were on a jet-ski ride on the Volta River near Aqua Safari, a beach resort at Ada.

There were media reports and speculations that Asamoah Gyan had ‘sacrificed Castro for spiritual purposes to enhance his career.

Black Stars Captain, Asamoah Gyan earlier said he is hopeful that Castro and Jane will be found to put their family at ease.

But failed attempts to find Castro compelled the family to hold a press briefing in Accra on Wednesday, where they finally broke their silence by narrating circumstances which led to the disappearance of the two.
