Vivo Energy Ghana Expands Retail Network


Tema, 3rd September, 2014: Vivo Energy Ghana, the company that distributes and markets Shell-branded fuels and lubricants as part of its retailer site expansion initiative, has inaugurated its new service station at Ashaiman in the Tema Municipality.

The inauguration of the station brings to 138, the number of Shell Service Stations owned by Vivo Energy Ghana and the second station located in the center of Ashaiman Municipality which serves as the hub of commercial activity with heavy vehicular movements.

The Retail Manager of Vivo Energy Ghana, Mr. Kwame Ackah in his speech, said the company is fully committed to growing and improving its businesses in Africa and this entails the injection of new capital for investing in new service stations, facilities and constantly improving the customer experience. According to him Vivo Energy has ambitious plans to grow the business in Africa and in relation to this, the company built and rebranded over 100 new service stations across Africa last year.

In doing so, we are committed to achieve and maintain the highest Health, Safety, Security and Environment standards and to deliver Shell’s high quality fuels and lubricants in an environmentally and socially responsible manner” says Mr. Kwame Ackah.

The Municipal Chief Executive,Honourable. Abraham Baidoo said the Shell brand is one of the best recognised brands in the world andcould not hide his excitement with the siting of a big brand in the center of the town. He also applauded Shell for employing local folks to operate the service station and advised the company to maintain the industry standards.

Shell-branded souvenirs such as T-shirts and airfresheners were distributed to invited guests including members of the commercial transport unions who graced the occasion and showed a high level of customer satisfaction about Shell products.All motorists who purchased products were also given free gifts on the day of the inauguration.

The colourful event was attended by special invited guests such as the District Commander of Police, the Queen Mother of Ashaiman and Ada, the Chairman of Tema Car Dealers Association and representatives of the various Transport Unions.

Vivo Energy Ghana has a storage capacity of 11,000m³ and 138 retail stations with a majority offering of Shell Cards and convenience retail stores. Vivo Energy Ghana employs 138 people but the business provides indirect employment to over 1,000 people. The company is recognised as the leader in the oil industry especially championing and setting standards for safety in sales and distribution.

Vivo Energy operates in retail; commercial fuels (marine, mining and aviation through Vitol Aviation); liquefied petroleum gas and lubricants in Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Mali, Mauritius, Madagascar, Morocco, Mozambique, Namibia, Senegal, Tunisia and Uganda.

The company employs around 2,250 people and operates 1,450 retail stations under the Shell brand and has access to approximately 900,000 cubic meters of fuel storage capacity. Shell and Vivo Lubricants will have blending capacity of around 170,000 metric tons at plants in seven countries (Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Morocco, Tunisia and Senegal) producing Shell branded lubricants.
