Ho Residents Cry For Nana

Nana Addo – who is seeking re-election as the presidential candidate of the party for the 2016 general elections – and his running mate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, were in the region to attend the funeral of the mother of Dr. Archibald Letsa, 2012 parliamentary candidate of the NPP for Ho Central.

Although Nana was not able to address the crowd – since it was a funeral – the mere waving at the crowd was greeted with a thunderous cheer, some of who screamed, ‘We want change’ and ‘Nana for 2016.’ Nana and his entourage then went to greet the chiefs and other mourners that had assembled at the funeral.

Also in attendance was the First Vice Chairman of the NPP, Freddie Blay; the Volta Regional Chairman of the NPP, John Peter Amewu; his predecessor, Kenwuud Nuworsu; former Ghana Ambassador to Benin, Thomas Amesimeku; Minority Leader, Osei-Kyei Mensah- Bonsu; former Minister of State for Tertiary Education, Elizabeth Ohene and Emmanuel Ohene, among others.

Mourns With Wagba
Nana Addo also paid a courtesy call on Douglas Wagba, an elder of the NPP in the region, to commiserate with him on the death of his son, Shine Kekeli Wagba, who is to be buried on Saturday, 23 August, 2014.

Nana Akufo-Addo said the news of Mr. Wagba losing his son also struck him deeply and so decided to visit him and commiserate with him. He urged him (Wagba) and his family to take heart. He entreated, ‘Trust in God for it is He who gives and takes.’

Dr. Bawumia also prayed that Allah would keep the family safe and guide them out of this trying time.

The retinue later went round to monitor what was going on at some registration centres in the central and southern parts of the region. Nana Addo and Dr. Bawumia expressed delight at the smooth nature of the exercise and urged NPP polling agents to be vigilant.
