Chinese Ambassador Pledges Support For Ghana’s Energy Sector

The Chinese Ambassador to Ghana,Her Excellency (H.E) Ms Sun Baohong has pledged China’s unflinching support for Ghana in her quest to generate adequate electricity to power the nation and accelerate economic growth.

According to her, the government’s target of achieving 10 % renewable component of its electricity generation mix by 2020 will receive the full support of her country through capacity building on renewable energy solutions.

The Ambassador said this when she called on the Minister for Energy and Petroleum Resources, Mr. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah at his office in Accra.

Ms. Baohong said the close collaboration between the two nations has resulted in the implementation of various energy projects,which successes lend credence to the fact that such partnership could be expanded.

She pledged to work closely with the Minister to improve the energy sector to achieve the goals of government with respect to power generation.

The Ambassador announced that China would soon offer training to Ghanaians to build capacity in the energy sector.

In a welcome gesture to his office,Mr. kofi Buah expressed profound gratitude to China for her continued support to Ghana and hoped that the bilateral ties between the two countries will be strengthened in the spirit of South-South co-operation.

He recalled his recent visit to China describing it as fruitful and admitted how China could be of assistance to Ghana in the renewable energy solutions for off-grid communities,of which some projects are already underway.
