Angry traders stripped naked and almost lynched a man who allegedly has stolen some clothes in a boutique at the Kubwa main market in Abuja on Friday, June 20.
When the owner of the shop noticed that the suspect was trying to sneak away from the shop with some clothes without paying, he tried to apprehend the thief. However, the thief managed to run out of the shop, but the owner caught him some distance away from the market.
According to a source, the suspect was immediately pounced upon by other traders who stripped his own clothes off and began to beat him.
It was gathered that the traders had already brought out some tyres and were about to burn him alive when some police officers came to his rescue and whisked him away.
A police source in the area confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect had been arrested and was undergoing interrogation at the station.
