Kashamu, who is a chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-West, dragged Obasanjo to court for alleged character-assassination.

The ex-president, who decline to show in person as directed by the court sent Bode Mustapha, the former National Auditor of the PDP to testify for him.

Obansajo’s lawyer, Gboyega Oyewole, at the resumed proceeding on the case today (Tuesday) explained to the court that his client chose not to show up in person, but decided to send one witness in order to prove to the court that he has no case to answer regarding the suit.

It would be recalled that Obasanjo, was berated by Buruji Kashamu, the PDP South-West, Chairman, Organisation and Mobilisation Committee for saying President Goodluck Jonathan asked for one term in office during an interview with a London-based tabloid, Bloomberg News. The ex-president, however, fired back at Kashamu, in his open letter to President Goodluck Jonathan, alleging that Kashamu was wanted in the United States of America for drug offences. In a reaction to the statement, Kashamu threatened a libel suit against the former president, whom told him to go ahead and still posited that Kashamu has no moral name worthy of any protection.
