Enough is Enough: UEFA tell Blatter not to stand for re-election

UEFA have told FIFA President Sepp Blatter he should not stand for re-election next year.

Blatter is expected to announce his intentions to run for another term in 2015 at the FIFA Congress tomorrow in Sao Paulo.

Executive committee members of UEFA believe the reputation of the world football governing body has been tarnished under his reputation, most recently with allegations of corruption in Qatar’s successful 2022 World Cup bid.

David Gill and Netherlands federation president Michael Praag told Blatter he should not be a candidate for re-election for this reason.

Van Praag said “people link FIFA to corruption and bribery and all kinds of old boy’s network’ as UEFA delegates met Blatter at UEFA’s base during the upcoming World Cup.
