National Women’s League: Hasaacas Ladies beat Fabulous Ladies to retain title


Hasaacas Ladies retained the National Women’s League title by beating Fabulous Ladies on penalty shootout after the  90 minutes of duration had ended with both sides failing to find the back of the net at the Accra Sports Stadium

It was a rematch of last season’s final but once again the Westerners were too strong for the ladies from Kumasi.

Hasaacas Ladies won the Southern zonal league while Fabulous Ladies won the Northern Zonal league amd the former beat the latter on Saturday in a playoff to defend their league title.

The regulation couldn’t produce produce a winner as both sides played good football and were good defensive to deny their opponent from scoring.

Fabulous Ladies and former Black Queens goalkeeper Memunatu Sulemana missed the crucial penalty to hand the trophy to Hasaacas who scored six of their shootouts as against Fabulous’ five.Hasaacas ladies have done it again by beating Fabulous Ladies for the second seaon running to defend the national Women’s League title at the Ohene Djan Sports Stadium, Accra.

However before the Championship clash, Soccer Intellectuals whitewashed Oforikrom Ladies 9-0 in the relegation play-off on the same venue.

Soccer Intellectuals concluded the season one place above bottom, while Oforikrom Ladies also finished the seaon in the same position, hence the need to engage each other to determine who stays in the league.

Soccer Intellectuals proofed too strong for the Oforikrom Ladies and succeded to push them to relegation.
