The Bison leads: Essien captains Ghana against Holland

Michael Essien might have been the last player to join the Black Stars camp in Holland, but he is the first on the team sheet to face the Orange tonight.

The Bison will captain the team against Louis Van Gaal’s Dutch team in Rotterdam as both Ghana and Holland aim to shape up ahead of the World Cup in Brazil.

Coach Kwesi Appiah has also started Adam Larsen Kwarasey in goal ahead of regular Fatau Dauda, and has also handed Jeffrey Schlupp a slot at left back ahead of Harrison Afful.

Rashid Sumaila and Jerry Akaminko resume the partnership they forged in Ghana’s World Cup qualifying playoff double header against Egypt last year.

Christian Atsu’s sterling display back in Accra in Ghana’s 6-1 drubbing of the Dream Team sees him retain his place behind Jordan Ayew in attack.

Here is the lineup in full: Adam Kwarasey, Samuel Inkoom, Jeffrey Schlupp, Rashid Sumaila, Jerry Akaminko, Rabiu Mohammed, Albert Adomah, Michael Essien, Jordan Ayew, Christian Atsu, Kwadwo Asamoah

The game kicks off at 18.30 GMT.
