Residents of Sukunu-Bethlehem near Asamankese in the Eastern region were on Sunday morning thrown into shock when a 12-inch coffin covered with black cloth was found near the M/A school which is also closer the community’s cemetery.
Upon advise from traditional leaders, the coffin has been burnt into ashes after pouring of libation and prayers by one man of God but the incident has caused fear and panic since it is the first time such incident has hit the township.
According to de linguist of the community Okyeame Kofi Eshun, even though authorities have announced to individuals who know anything on the coffin, no one has stepped forward to claim ownership of the coffin.
According to him, authorities are however investigating the matter to find the out the origin of the coffin.
Residents and inhabitants are pointing fingers at some youth in the Asamankese area and have charged traditional authorities to get to the bottom of the issue.
