Stop Early Campaign NPP Warns Aspirant

The Greater Accra Regional Executive of the New Patriotic Party has cautioned would-be Parliamentary aspirants in the region to cease campaigning until the green light has been given by the party leadership.

A statement signed by Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Ishael Ashitey, cautioned, “We wish to bring to the attention of all party members especially people who have the intention/ambition to contest parliamentary primaries in constituencies where we have seating Members of Parliament to cease.”

The party, according to the regional Chairman, is yet to set a time table for parliamentary primaries, hence members who have the ambition to contest must not speak too early.

He explained that the party wants its current Members of Parliament to concentrate on their work and promote the interest of the party and Ghana without any divided attention.

“In addition, constituency executives must be given the free hand to rebuild the party for the 2016 general election.”

Mr. Ashitey cautioned that, “recalcitrant” members would be dealt with by the party disciplinary committee.
