WFP Donates To Northern Regional GES


The World Food Programme (WFP) has donated items running into several thousands of cedis to the Northern Regional Directorate of the Ghana Education Service (GES)

This was at the ceremony hand over GHC 150,000 worth of office equipment and grinding mills to WFP assisted government partners and beneficiaries to improve various projects in five regions.

Presenting the items,Dr. Abebe Hankora, Head Of Sub Office, World Food Program (WFP) Tamale, said it was part of the WFP effort to improve programme implementation, monitoring and sustainability in education, nutrition and agriculture sector.

He emphasized the items should be operated by the Regional girls education office in order to provide adequate documentation and timely report to enhance the activities of girl child education in the area, especially in the three Northern Regions.

“Girls in this area are always undermined and prevented to have access to education, which has contributed to the poor academic performance and success of girl education”, Dr. Abebe added.

On her part, Ms. Margaret Zaato, Deputy Director, Northern Regional GES commended WFP for the timely intervention and promise to use it for its purpose in order to improve activities of girl child education in the Northern Region.
