Krapa radio station donates to widows

A local radio station at Krapa in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality, Metro FM, has presented assorted items to over 1000 widows and widowers in the Ashanti and Brong Ahafo regions respectively.

The items included clothing, rice, provisions, shoes and student mattresses.

The donation was part of activities marking the first anniversary of the establishment of the station.

Prior to the presentation, the widows and widowers were entertained by some gospel musicians, namely Tagoe Sisters, Anita Afriyie, Bosheba Joshua and Blessing.

The Municipal Chief Executive for Ejisu-Juaben, Mr Afrifa Yamoah Ponko, who was the special guest at the function, commended the management of the station for the gesture and called on corporate bodies, religious groups, non-governmental organisations and  philanthropists to complement the government’s effort at providing the needs of the people since  the government alone could not provide all the needs of society.

He advised the widows to eschew sorrow and bitterness resulting from the loss of their spouses and think about how to continue with their lives as well as take care of their children and families.

The General Manager of Metro FM, Mr Moses Antwi Benefo, said the station would undertake such presentations every year, and appealed to families to avoid the habit of maltreating widows and widowers and rather give them moral, financial and other forms of support to enable them to live comfortably.
