Focus on strengthening party machinery – Isaac Osei to NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Subin, Isaac Osei has cautioned the party to focus on strengthening its structures rather than engaging in a debate over who becomes the next flagbearer.

“At the moment I will urge all of us to concentrate on our assisting the new executives to have the full complement and to ensure that we can develop a well-oiled machinery capable of taking power from the NDC [National Democratic Congress],’’ he said.

According to him the important thing right now is to have ‘’a good solid machine’’ that will rescue power from the NDC.

‘’If we have a good solid machine, I am quite sure that anybody who eventually emerge as our flagbearer will be able to unite the party for victory,’’ he noted.

Party rumours indicate that some members are tipping, Isaac Osei to contest Nana Akufo-Addo for the flagbearership slot, but he told Citi News that settling for such a position involves a lot of soul searching which he has not thoroughly done yet.

Mr. Isaac Osei also said Paul Afoko’s main challenge is to supervise a fair election that would produce a flagbearer.

‘’…what is important is for the new leadership to be fair, they have to be fair and apply the rules of the game,’’ he opined.

The NPP elected new National Executives to steer the affairs of the party on Saturday in Tamale.

The election saw a totally new breed of executives, elected by the delegates of the party with both incumbent Chairman and General Secretary of the party losing.
