Atik Mohammed, Vitus Azeem Call On Prez To Look Into Fishy GYEEDA Advert

Policy Analyst for the People’s National Convention (PNC), Atik Mohammed and Executive Director of the Ghana Integrity Initiative, Vitus Azeem, have called on the President to explain the circumstances behind the advertisement for bids for the ICT Module of GYEEDA even though the issues for which all the modules under GYEEDA were suspended, have not been resolved.

Speaking on Oman FM’s National Agenda Morning Show, the Executive Director of the Anti-Corruption civil society group called on the President to explain the sudden rush to re-launch only the ICT module under GYEEDA and called on government to come clear on the matter as soon as possible.

These comments follow the advertisement for bids by GYEEDA for a re-launch of the ICT Module in the Daily Graphic of 3rd April, 2014 even though the government is yet to complete the restructuring of the Programme and get a proper legal framework to back the programme as was announced when the modules of the programme were suspended.

Speaking on the same programme, Policy Analyst of the PNC, Atik Mohammed also called on the President to immediately look into the matter of the advert.

Atik Mohammed, who was obviously outraged by the advert in the Daily Graphic, wondered why the GYEEDA coordinator, Kobby Acheampong and the Sector Minister, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, were only interested in re-launching the ICT module when the restructuring of GYEEDA had not been completed while the GYEEDA law meant to give a proper legal backing to the operations of GYEEDA had not even been laid in parliament.
