2014 GHALCA Top 4 Scheduled For August

Chairman of the Ghana League Clubs Association, Alhaji Raji has disclosed that this years’ edition of the annual GHALCA Top 4 competition will come off in August.

The leadership of GHALCA have been in a discussion with South Africa based broadcasting giants Supersport to sponsor the competition but the football club’s welfare body has announced that it will confirm the official sponsor for the event by the close of the week.

“We are still talking to them (Supersport) but we have not finalized it, By Monday or Tuesday we will make available all the information from the negotiations,” Alhaji Raji told Power FM.

“I believe the (Premier) League has been very competitive this season. With the exception of the first position that Kotoko has virtually captured since we started the league, the second to the fourth positions has been changing and it shows how serious the clubs are to compete in the Top 4, especially in the second round of the league. You can’t just predict those who will finish in the Top4,” he added.

With six remaining matches to the end of the First Capital plus Bank Ghana Premier League, league leader Asante Kotoko, 2nd placed Heart of Lions and Hearts of Oak and Sekondi Hasaacas, Ashanti Gold and Wa All Stars are all battling for places in the top 4.

The GHALCA reverted to the Top 4 competition after organizing the eight-team GHALCA G8 in September 2011, which was won by Berekum Chelsea.
