Former Black Stars Captain Stephen Appiah has revealed in an interview with Citi Sports that he is relishing the prospect of sharing his knowledge with the Black Stars team in his role as part of the backroom staff.

Team coach Kwesi Appiah revealed late last year that he would require the services of the former midfield maestro as part of his technical team.

“When I heard the news that Kwesi Appiah had recommended me in one of his interviews, I was very happy because it was a sign that I had planted good seeds whose fruits I was reaping,” he said.

The former Juventus midfielder who captained the Black Stars at their maiden appearance of the World Cup in Germany says he is also looking to play an extra role.

“It is not all about what happens on the pitch at the world cup but also when there is a lot of tension and pressure the players need someone to talk to.”

The Black Stars play their first game of the competition against the United States of America on the 16th of June in Natal.
