Youth group attack Justice Radio in Tamale

Ridge_Radio_StudioA youth group suspected to be supporters of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in Tamale reportedly attacked Tamale based Radio Justice and destroyed property belonging to the station.

Sources on the ground reported that they went there to attack the deputy Secretary to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Tamale central constituency , Ahmed Faisal  who featured on the station’s newspaper review discussion program onTuesday March 11, 2014.

The attack on the radio station has been attributed to the death of one Mustapha Abdul Rashid who was killed on Monday 11, 2014 near the Tamale Aboabo forest by people suspected to members of the NPP Kandaha Boys.

Citi News Northern Regional correspondent, Mashoud Kombat reported that residents around Lamashegu where the radio station is located in the Tamale metropolis were alarmed by the incident.

According to him, economic activities stopped during the hours of the attack.

He however said adequate security had been deployed to the area to maintain law and order.

Meanwhile, northern regional police Public Relations Officer, ASP Ebenezer Tetteh told Citi News investigations were underway.

He reassured residents of Tamale and its environs of maximum security and said the police were all out to flush out people who have attempted to make the area ungovernable.
