Annan Assured Schalke Future

Schalke coach Jens Keller says Ghana midfielder Anthony Annan has a future at the club and will be handed playing opportunities this season.

Annan has been in the plans of Keller ever since he recovered fully from an ankle injury before the winter break.

Keller named him in his squad that toured Qatar for their winter training camp and played him in the 2-1 friendly win against Qatari side Al Gharafa last month.

Annan was on the bench for the first time this season in last Sunday’s 2-0 win over Hannover 96.

Keller heaped praise on Annan for his work ethic and says he is ready to use him.

“Anthony is a professional, I have watched him closely and his work rate is outstanding,” Keller said to Schalke TV.

“All players will have a chance to play and that includes him, he is in the team today because I felt he can perform when called upon.”

Annan has been registered for Schalke’s UEFA Champions Champaign where they face Spanish giants Real Madrid in the first knockout round.

His contract with the Royal Blues expires in June this year.
