Guru Comes Under Attack …Accused Of Stealing Songs


The year under review, which covers this year’s vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) 2014,   has seen Guru’s ‘Bossu’ making the waves .

However, industry experts have come out to criticize Guru and cautioned him not to take credit for the song in question.

According to industry experts, the song should even be removed from the nomination list from the VGMA’S so as not to take the shine out of the hard work of the committee which would be selecting the songs.

Speaking in one of the Accra base radio stations, Peace FM on “Entertainment Review”, Guru observed that he is among one of the best artistES currently making waves and needed to be awarded for his hard work under the year of review.

According to him, he is able to introduce new terms which dominate the political discourse.

He retreated that, the song Lapas Toyota, should have won an award last year, but industry experts failed to recognize the hard work and innovation which went into the concept for the music.

In a related development, s peaking on Flex on Pluzz , an entertainment review programme on Pluzz FM in Accra over the weekend, a budding artiste, Osagy, brazenly accused Guru of pilfering his song ‘Bossu’ – which has the same arrangements and chorus settings as one of ‘s latest works also titled ‘Bossu’ . When the two songs were aired, the similarities in them were obviously striking and it was clear that one of them had stolen the song from the other. Osagy claimed that he sent his song to some industry stakeholders for support, approval and possible feature on the song and was one of the people he sent the song to. According to him, he was overly aghast when he heard the release of ‘Bossu’ on air as a song belonging to . was not available for commentary on the accusation levelled against him by the young rapper who resides in the Volta Region. It will be recalled that last year, young and enterprising artiste, Tee Phlow also accused Guru of stealing the concept of ‘Alkayida’ , claiming he was the first artiste to come out with the song, and that he (Tee Phlow) released his ‘Alkayida’ song right after the GhOne organized hip-hop competition dubbed: ‘The Next Big Thing’, a competition he placed second.
